my last histo slides seen

sorry lah lz to label

Just random

oh, i just realized i've missed my target. it's been a LONG time since i last updated, at least for me.

anyways, there has been quite a lotta things i wanted to blog about, it's just that the 'lazy bug' is starting to BUG me. Get it?? haha lame i know....

first and foremost!!
i have had my first official visits to gcc and spcc on fridays for church!! now, to decide which to settle down with.... ???
i guess i'll continue chilling around both until i'm decided?? and i've been to my first cf in aimst!! waaa.... aimst oso got cf wan meh?? ahahahah

Secondly, the announcement by our dearest current deputy pm regarding the abolishment/or rather a gradual one of the nep.
well, if it really DOES happen (and i really don't know about the speed about the GRADUAL change he meant) i'm all for it!

every msian citizen knows about the nep, well heck we even learn a tad bit about it in our history textbooks. not much know about the details of it though most have a general idea what it's about.
i really do pray that msia really heads for the better, for even if we do hate/dislike/disagree with the government system/unfair policies/unethical judgements/unbelievingly wuliao stuff that happens in this country called msia, it cannot be denied that WE ARE MALAYSIANS!
It is OUR DUTY as malaysians to make our country a better place. if we ourselves do not make the effort to push our country AND HOME towards the RIGHT DIRECTION, WHO WILL??
the angmohs is it?? blerrr
ppl's economy wanna luput liao, summore u tink they wan help u meh. fat chance. even if dey wan kan, our gamen oso don let larrr. hahaha

things to change!! isa, nep, setting up of media council, transparent gamen n judiciary system, edu system bla bla bla bla bla.................
all ths things will not change in a blink of an eye. at least we ppl kan nid to be aware of what is happening around us.
then kan, when we're eligible to vote, GO VOTE LAR! we young ppl make up the majority of this country and thus have the power to make a difference!
(macam lah i'm of age to vote, ahahaha)
oh well, i'm so gonna vote in the next election lor, if possible lar... nyehehehehe

actually i think politics is wuliao wan lar... but u knw, just so i can fill this blog post.... and plus, it's more like the system n not politics that's in my mind... ahahahakz!

NEXT!! this place called aimst is stressing me out.... it's not because of the studying... it's the LACK OF STUDYING i'm doing now!
it's only been a month plus, and i'm starting to go back to my old self (chill all the time)

i wanna get back my enthusiasm to prepare for lectures and going thru them after cls!! and actually REMEMBER what i learnt, and not forget all abt the details once i'm done with it for the day.

erm well, actually can't think of anything else significant to blog about.
oh yeah i'm at kulim again by the way. hmm, tmr will be going to sheela's place 4 deepavali!!
yay, makan time (oh no i'm putting on weight already lar... T.T)!!

oh and er yeah i was troubled about something else.
but my dear abigail, who has almost the same opinion/thoughts as i have, but better organization of it help me kaotim liao, by arranging them properly. muahahaha

then cz tengok i so 'confused...' on msn he ask me go see
proverbs 3:5-6 & phillipians 4:13

i luv me frens!!

THANK U GOD FOR ALL I HAVE IN MY LIFE!
tq tq tq~ i luv my dear papa in heaven so so much

Leadership

*inspired by jo's question of leadership qualities

what does being a leader mean to u?

i've had my fair share of it in secondary school.

and frankly, i don't think i'm much of leader material.

if there are other individuals that are capable of producing good, if not better results, why don't just let them continue on shining brightly?
they get to do the job, and get the name and prestige that comes with it.
whereas i can just sit back, relax and enjoy whatever we 'subordinates' get from the result

of course, if the person at the top is outright lousy and incompetent
and you're strictly better
then go for that post and make a change,
make a difference
make something better
to be birthed out of that position

being at the top, means extra responsiblity, stress
in a good way, it makes you perform spectacularly
the bad thing for some is that a breakdown can occur
or at the mildest sense, the actual tasks and responsibilities aren't even done

i've never asked for myself to be nominated for anything, nor have i rushed after position after position for self gratification or any such thing
i just somehow get it
and i'm happy i did
even tho i didn't expect it

i appreciated those times
as they have made me what i am today
i realise that being at 'the top' doesn't mean anything if you're not competent
and that sometimes, being ordinary can be surprisingly fun

i tried my best while i was at the top
and will continue to do so where ever i am
being exemplary, being ordinary
just playing your part in life in the best way

that's good enough

thinking back, i wonder if i've done a good job during those times
doubts abt my own performance plagued me regularly then
and occasionally the present
wondering whether the 'right' actions were taken

some people love me
some people dislike me
and some even hate me
*i think*

oh well, life goes on

Now??
i just wanna be a great medical student
and hopefully, a great doctor after i graduate!!

~~smileys~~

how are you like around people?

how are you like around people?
bold? talkative? shy? quiet?
ever smiling? ever frowning?
or always pulling some one's leg?
how are you like around people?
do you tend to nod/shake your head a lot?
do you lean forwards? keep your distance?
or do you fidget around waiting for the next most comfy pose??
how are you like around people?
using a lot of your body language?
just content with just facial expressions?
or a mixture of both depending on the situation?
how are you like around people?
simple and straightforward?
reserved? complex?
always agreeing? always denying?
how are you like around people???

Life

Life is like wearing a pair of shoes
There are pretty ones and ugly ones
comfy ones
and excruciatingly painful ones
So you see, these 3 pairs below are the ones i've got

a black vincii-1 month old
a white vees-2 weeks old

and a high heeled vincii-3 months plus

the people we meet, the things we do can all be likened to a pair of shoes

of which you might wear a day?

or a week?

maybe even a month?

6 months?

2 yrs??

however long the period of time

there are times when we are hurt

by the people, by the situations

like this:

and so

we try to let time heal our wounds

praying that all will be well again

the scar is fresh

wondering whether the same incident

will ever happen again?

for the pain for most,

is unbearable

.

..

...

....

..

.

this is my favourite pair

it makes me stand the tallest (compared to the other pairs)

and thus the pressure on the ball of the feet

largest

but it NEVER EVER cuts me

luv u my dear high heels

I HATE TRM BOOKS SDN BHD

*Written below is an expression of my anger, disappointment, and disgust at trm books sdn bhd. It is not intended to defame anyone, but is merely a statement of my experience with trm books sdn bhd!!

Before the raya hols, i submitted my order of 3 books:
netter's atlast of anatomy, guyton's physiology and wheater's histology, via C who acts as this intermediate guy between us and TRM BOOKS SDN BHD whereby all of us sakai students will buy in bulk from them lor.

TRM is a medical books supplier based in sungai petani and has its website HERE. So, go check it out already?? short, quick, simple and reliable looking right??

okay fine, the date i submitted the order- 26/09/08
the date C gave them our order- I HAVE NO IDEa
the date i paid the deposit after raya- 07/10/08

after receiving their sms notification at 7.21 pm (11/10/2008), i expected to see all THREE books TODAY as i NEED THEM LIKE NOW!!!

I WANT TO STUDY!! AND I'VE WAITED AND WAITED SO LONG (i wanted them like during raya wan so can make use of the time to study-even tho that's highly unlikely) BUT I NEED THEM ESPECIALLY NOW! i want my HISTOLOGY to be more specific!!!

anyways, i've only got back my guyton book and my histology and anatomy atlas is still missing from the show! when they told me about the delay for one week, i was like fine okay, asked them when it'll arrive, LIKE SATURDAY?? and they say like yeah.

ARGH!!!! the LAST DAY OF THE WEEK! ANOTHER HISTOLOGY LESSON!! SIEN!!!

ok lor fine lor, u no stock ok lar i understand lar even if i'm SUPER DUPER UNHAPPY ABOUT IT. then ar, when i reached my room and proceeded to get my physiology book out of the plastic out of its plastic, LOW AND BEHOLD!!! the cover is DAMAGED!!! SHIT!!!

PARDON THE LANGUAGE

and so, there i was rattling on and on in my head cursing the teruk-ness of TRM.
APA HAL LA LU!! WHY SELL ME A DAMAGED BOOK!!! SIEN!!! ok lor fine lor the book still can use lor. but then har!! why la why u all so like have no care about US CUSTOMERS HAR!! you're not scared i make public of this exprerience meh.
sien

then ar i see the book so lousy, then i flipped to the pin number part, and fast fast scratch and try registering for that book at studentconsult.com. cos i was scared it was a pirated copy until they don't care about it and simply damage the precious book and then cause me to have no access to the acount ok.
how gullible and foolish i am.

after like 10 seconds i scratched it!! i'm now filled with regret!! aiyah y i so stupid!! should have just returned the book and get a new one from them!!
IF NOT what is consumer rights! who ask me to be so stupid go pandai pandai scratch and see whether it's a real book from elsevier o not. sien

so now, i have to bear with a book which has a bit folded/scratched/push until deformed cover. maybe u think i'm exaggerating, but in my view it IS in that condition. i want my book to be PERFECT OKAY! even the slightest bit of damage will make me NOT BUY THE BOOK IN A BOOKSTORE!!

if not because of ibs (the aimst uni bookstore) not stocking up the softcopy version of physiology and the 2 histology books left on the shelf that time was like a bit cacat-ed and stock is yet to come, I SURELY WON'T ORDER FROM TRM BOOKS SDN BHD.

NEXT TIME, even if IBS no stock, i will ask them to ORDER again for me! and even if i have to wait until i want to die, i will never order from trm again.

makai

now, i'll wait and see whether my histology and atlast of anatomy is in the same condition.
and i've learnt my lesson, GET REFUND/NEW PERFECT BOOK from them!! if not go report to the consumer punya association. HMPH.

oh ya i'm not blaming C. unless he's getting comission from them.
just trm being the victim of my angry post here.

sorry lah if i upset anyone, just that i'm really disappointed lor ok
The more we learn, the more we know

the more we know, the more we forget

the more we forget, the less we know

*quote from lecturer-word by word

Saturday, October 11, 2008

Before attempting to read the following, please note that 'cadaver' means dead bodies, especially intended for dissection

For the past week, my lecture hours are sorta like this:
monday 8am-4pm (2 hours blanked=free!!)
tuesday 8am-5pm (3 hours blanked)
wednesday 8am-11am (no msian studies, hehe!)
thursday 8am-12pm (1hour of msian studies in between again)
friday 10am-3pm (1hr for lunch)

well, at least that's for the past week. I can't imagine when EVERYTHING like tutorials and labs are ALL on for the week which means:
monday 8am-4pm
tuesday 8am-5pm
wednesday 8am-5pm
thursday 8am-4pm
friday 8am-3pm

IN COMPARISON, imu is SO RELAXING MAN!!!!

wide eyed enough now??? the terror~~~ the terror~~~ aaaa~~~~~
like going to work liddat wan.... o.O

Subjects taken at the moment include physiology, world religions, biochemistry, microbiology, anthropology, epidemiology, ENGLISH for general academic purposes (cis!! cis!!), anatomy/histology, and that's basically it!
PHEW!!!!

well, it has yet been another generally uneventful week, excluding the weekend of course.

We had histology lecture and then practical after that on thursday. As me and my siao fren were too incompetent to make full use of the ONE HOUR (ONLY you know!!) time, we got hold of one of the lecturers and enquired more about viewing the slides at other hours. just to make sure we can do it and how we go about it lah.

And so, happily and merrily, on friday, after class, n after jo going to ibs, n after me n ttx-the library, we reached the medic building again at around 340. Thus, beginning our quest for further knowledge!! (chill lah, please bear with me for a while)

When we 'obtained contact' with the lab assistant, he was ever so kind n helpful (i'm not being sarcastic here) and got us the slides without much fuss so we could dissect all the info we can get get from the slides asap. So off we were to the anatomy dissection hall to observe the slides lor.

Upon entering the 'discussion place' or whatever it is called lah, an array of colours belonging to cadavers caught our eye!! and we were like oomphing and aaahing over our new discovery, i mean what are the chances of stumbling across em when we wanna 'revise' histology kan?? we've only had one encounter with them during the introduction to anatomy lecture! so can't blame our 'enthusiasm'??

But still, we resisted the urge and temptation to 'fondle' and 'caress' quite well, and went on with what we were SUPPOSED to do-TENGOK SLIDES! So, ttx had her turn first, since she was unwell the day before and basically was blur and not within herself.

Then, the lab assistant (for anatomy and not the histology one as before) dropped in to get to know us, then once he mentioned the word GO (albeit in a different, not that direct phrase as this), me n jo fast fast rush beside the place where the cadaver parts are placed and touch here and there lor (with bare hands, mind you). Suddenly, after talking about some of the body parts, Mr. J dug up the inner organs of the male cadaver to show us its spleen i think?? well, i forgot which but then we also dared to get messy lor after he did that (and after we requested for permission lar, haha) so see here n thr, poke here n there, feeling the texture, toughness, blah blah blah blah and other boring stuffz.

Oh ya, i also had the chance to see the cross section of a female upper body too. With which me n jo puzzled upon which organ was intended for which structure/function- more specifically near the pelvic part. ahaha... mainly cos i thought that the ovary didn't look like the ovary and etcetera lah. Mr J clarified my doubts as soon as i asked though. hehe. He's so helpful to us students wan, wah v good lah, i like, (actually almost all the staff here like that wan lor) we are definitely lucky to have these ppl man...

Note: this is an edited and modified version. Incident regarding little visit by other batch mates were omitted to facilitate a shorter and pleasant story.

A change of topic!!

I had my first visit to central square, sg petani on saturday, after replacement classes for raya. :)
Twas actually nothing to be so excited about. It's something like the not yet expanded days of bintang plaza, only worse. Very chap n messy lor the place, at the slight bit of stairs leading up to the bowling area, the sight that beholds you is- cigarrete butts on the ground and a whole bunch of hooligan looking malays sitting there too.
(i don't really have a thing against malays, cos i love afiq n sitia n izzaidin n khalid n syeeda n ain n all the gang last time lar, n some of the girls that let me have a chair during one of the meal times. so you see, i'm okay with malays man!)

Oh yeah it was kinda of a culture shock being there cos it's predominantly indian ethinicity you see in aimst and the chinese, second. THE POINT IS, it's messy bcos of the ppl that messed up the place, the lots placing being a bit too crowded for me, the narrow walkway, dizzyingly complicated locations of elevators and stairs, ppl everywhere due to it being a public holiday, lousy air conditioning system and er, that's basically it gua??

Things i do like about it: watson's and guardian is there!! there a great chinese eatery called mr. choo's!! me, jess n hs were totally stuffing food down our throats for AUTHENTIC FIT FOR HUMAN FOOD!! and we kept to the 'now THIS is food fit for humans' phrase everytime a dish is served. hahaa! that's how bad we think about aimst food. which is edible, but not entirely enjoyable everytime. we'll survive, n for me, get fat!
oh and there's secret recipe and another place called 'meteor rain' in chinese that i have yet to check out. (mana tau kan the secret recipe here is lousy bah, haha!!)

SO BEHOLD, the FATTER karen, coming back to miri for cny!!! muahahaha!
(which is absolutely due to the oily food in campus okayyyy, serious!!!)

Bah, it's so late already, and yet tmr early morn got cell group! oh gosh, i forgot to talk about the amazing service i had on friday night!!! sien. nvm lah, the most important thing about is: AWESOME! not exactly like acts lah, but something like it?? :)
i duno but i feel at home (or at least for now lah)
will continue to observe and check out other places.

Until next time~~
:)
